Photographic exhibition
The photographic exhibition to be hosted by Áislann Chill Chartha for this year’s Heritage Week will be related to the local factories. We would be grateful if anyone who has old photographs of the factories or factory workers would bring them into the Áislann where they will be scanned and the originals returned. The December meeting of Kilcar Parish Council due to be held on Tuesday the 14th of December has been postponed until early Jan 2011 Kilcar Parish Council wish all a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year

The Parish has seen perhaps  some of the most treacherous  road conditions over the last week with today (Sunday being perhaps the worst with black Ice being a major problem

EXCLUSIVE - Massive Plant Proposed for Kilcar Parish


Kilcar Parish Council can reveal that the Cullion /Bavan  area  in Kilcar which borders the Killybegs Parish has been selected as one of the sites where it is planned to build one of the new electricity generating systems combining large scale wind farm  with Hydro powered storage in valleys/ as outlined in the Spirit of Ireland Web page last week/ The plan which would result in the construction of a massive Dam  in the Cullion are of Kilcar with the storage of millions of gallons of sea water and the construction of a new power station in the Valley below is at a advanced stage and local landowners have been approached; The project which would results in  hundreds of jobs in the inmiotial stage  has surprised local  and  people and the local Parish Council are seeking a meeting where the exact details of the plans can be revealed

Kilcar Playground

The opening of Kilcar Playground on 7th May by Mayor Byrne in the presence of the Tanaiste Mary Coughlan. The playground is named after Dan Gillespie first Secretary Kilcar Parish Council.

Kilcar Blue’s and Bluegrass Festival is on  this weekend in Kilcar ( See Press for details )

 Kilcar Parish Council Meeting with Udaras Na Gaeltachta, Roinn Na Gaeltachta and Donegal County Council

 In the past month Kilcar Parish Council have held meetings with the above bodies in relation to future development of Kilcar Parish At these meeting all matters relating to the Parish ranging from employment to roads and cultural issues were discussed all the agencies involved have indicated that they will return to the Parish Council on the matters raised in the next month

 Kilcar Parish Council 50th Anniversary Book.  Can you help?

Kilcar Parish Council is at present working on a book to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Kilcar Parish Council. The Parish Council are at present seeking pictures relating to the Parish Council activities over that period. if you have any pictures we would appreciate the loan of these pictures for use in the book, Pictures can be given to the following members of the committee namely. Money Lending in the area

At the April meeting of Kilcar Parish Council the issue of money lending in the area was discussed the Parish Council agreed to a three pronged attach on this matter  1 The Local Credit Union are to be contacted to see if it is possible to increase the service in the area 2 A awareness campaign is to be undertaken to  educate people to the interest charged by these people 3And the Parish Council are to highlight the service available to people in financial difficulty

Mast at Croaghmuckros 

Kilcar Parish Council have contacted Donegal County Council and asked  the County Council to clarify a number of matters in relation to the Mast at Croaghmuckros. The Parish Council decided on this course of action at its April meeting following  a recent letter received from Donegal County County Council

Kilcar Parish Council meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month for the remainder of 2010

 

Mast on Croaghmuckros

Kilcar Parish Council have become aware of the proposal to erect a 10 Meter mast on Croaghmuckros and proposals to also have additional access routes made to that mast.

Kilcar Parish Council have made contact with the parties involved and have asked the TEXTA Ireland and Harley Newman Consultants to supply the relevant information as a matter of urgency. When we receive a reply it will be posted on this web page

 

Carrick Vocational School

Congratulations to Carrick Vocational School on winning the Donegal Under 16 Vocational Schools 
Championship, following on  the winning of the Under 14 County Championship. It has  been  a truly 
remarkable year for Carrick Vocational School. We take this  opportunity to belatedly congratulate all involved. Carrick Vocational School now in Ulster Final.
